Queenscliff is a historic seaside retreat located on the Bellarine Peninsula at the head of Port Phillip Bay. The ocean view lookout offers stunning views across the heads to Point Nepean, Sorrento and Rye. Along the western side of the township lies parkland which is popular with travellers for picnics, lazinging about or watching ships enter Port Phillip Bay.

The Queenscliff Fort was first built in 1859 with the main walls and buildings that you see today following in 1882 to 1885. The fort was constructed to prevent enemy ships from entering the Port Phillip Bay. The fort consists of a number of 8inch guns that could fire upon ships entering the heads.

Each ship that enters the bay must be guided throught the hazzardous entrance by the Port Phillip Sea Pilots. Thier florescent orange boats which can handle all kinds of weather travel out into Bass Strait to meet and board ships, navigating them through the entrance known as "The Rip".

There are many water activities to undertake such as boating, sailing, fishing, diving, snorkelling and cruises that take you out onto Port Phillip Bay to view dolphins and seals. Queenscliff has many restaurants, hotels to dine at, as well as  numerous galleries and places to shop.

The Bellarine Peninsula Rail operates a steam train ride between Queenscliff and Drysdale on most weekends during the Year. A blues train also runs once a week where you can listen to local artists as you chug along the tracks.
